PRINCIPAL CONDUCTOR: JOE FRANK A native Texan, Joe Frank was raised in Richardson, Texas. He played French Horn for 4 years in his father’s high school
band and graduated from Richardson High School. He received his bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of
Texas, and returned to the Richardson school district near Dallas where he taught junior high and high school band for 17
years. During this time he spent 8 years at Berkner High School under the direction and mentoring of Robert Floyd. As a member
of the Berkner staff, he assisted in the development of the award winning Berkner Band Program, and in the development of
two 5A Texas State Honor Bands. In 1990 he moved to Sherman Texas where he served as Director of Bands for the Sherman ISD.
During his 14 years in Sherman, Mr. Frank’s bands received numerous awards including 13 University Scholastic League
sweepstakes awards, 18 consecutive Best in Class Music Festival Awards, three appearances at the Texas State Marching Contest
and 5th and 3rd place finishes in the TMEA State Honor Band Competition. Mr. Frank is a third generation band director, following
in the footsteps of his grandfather, Frank Frank and his father, Joe Frank, Sr. Mr. Frank holds a Masters Degree in Music
Education and has studied conducting with Craig Kirchoff, Richard Floyd, Jerry Junkin and Allen McMurry. He is a member the
Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Phi Beta Mu. After retiring in 2004, Mr. Frank
and his wife, Becky, moved to Athens. He has been conducting the Classic City Band for three years and is still very active
in music education in the area and in Gainesville.

ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR: ANGELA MANOUS Angela Manous is the band and choral director of W.R. Coile Middle School in Athens, Georgia. She received both her Bachelor
of Music Education and Masters of Music Education from the University of Georgia. In addition to the Classic City Band, she
is an active performing member of the Athens Symphony and The Northwinds Symphonic Band in Gainesville, Georgia. She is a
member of several professional music organizations, including the Music Educators National Conference (MENC), Georgia Music
Educators Association (GMEA), and Sigma Alpha Iota womens’ music fraternity. She is from Savannah, Georgia.
